SCA Week #1

Choice 2

Luke 1:14- Zacharias was told that he should "have joy and gladness and many shall rejoice at his birth" in regards to his son, John's, birth.

John the Baptist played an extremely important role in Christ' life. Because of his faithfulness and choice to fulfill his Father's will for his life on earth, Christ was able to be welcomed in and followed by so many of John's believers. So many people rejoiced over John's birth originally because of Zacharias' curse of not being able to speak. Once John was born and Zacharias showed faith in the Lord he was again able to speak and from that moment on people knew "the hand of the Lord was with him." Although different priests and messengers from leaders were sent to question John and find out who he was, he continually said he was simply a man preparing the way for the Lord and Savior. Because of this, people knew the Savior was close and were rejoicing in his ministry that was near at hand.
